How to get started with Twitter’s Vine to promote your business
As a social network that likes to keep things short n sweet, its not
surprising that twitter has released its app Vine which allows users to record
videos for 6 short seconds to convey their message. This six second time frame
is perfect for busy digital users. Currently this app is available for IPhome
and IPod touch, but very soon it will be available for other platforms also.
To launch the app for the first time, you will be asked to login either by
your twitter account or by your email address. Once you are logged in , you
will see feed of videos uploaded by people you follow and some editors pick.
The interface of this app is simple and real cool, as you scroll through the
videos in the feed, the videos will auto play with sound. You can tap on the
video at any point to pause it, so that you can watch the videos which move
real fast.
Below each video, you can see buttons for liking and commenting on the video,
where you can also have a look at other’s comments.
By tapping on the home tap in the left top corner, and you can navigate to
explore, which lets you browse by topics like how to, food etc You can search
via the search field at the top by entering a username or tag; or you can
explore various vine videos via popularity or editor’s pick.
There’s also an activity menu in the home tab, where you can see who’s
following you, liking your videos and commenting on them. Lastly there’s
profile tab, here you can see all your vine videos and your likes and if you
tap the icon in the corner, you can add people by searching them in your
address book, facebook or by name.
Also there is a setting tab in this profile page, where you can fill you
bio, location and you can link your vine to your twitter and facebook social
networks., so that you can share your videos easily.
To record your video on Vine, By selecting the video icon on the right hand
side from the home menu, your camera will launch. Shooting video on vine is
little different, to record you have to tap and hold the screen and to pause
you will have to release your hold. You can record by holding and releasing as
many times you want till you record your 6 second video.
After shooting it, you can preview the video and by tapping on the next
button, you can add a caption to your video. You can even include # tags. Then
you can select your sharing settings and after tapping done, your vine video
will be posted.
For Android users,Twitter has not yet released Vine but there’s a third party app which allows you to
browse vine videos called vine flow. This app has limited features, you cannot
sign-in or upload videos, just browse them. You can’t search for specific
users, however you can search for hashtags from home tab. Also you can share
videos on your social media via this app.
What can you post?
To
begin with you can record your products or “how to” use them videos. Apart from
that you can promote an upcoming event via vine. You can also make Vibe videos
showing customer satisfaction, office culture, your charity work or even
