How to Make your bank details hack-proof

ZenR Notes is a new, free note-taking program that –unlike other similar programs – lets you password-protect each note you create. You can create a master password to access your notes, and
get an email alert if someone is trying to access your account. It’s an effective way of keeping your bank details on your PC without anyone else being able to access them.

Go to HERE and scroll down to the four red Download links. The Mega option is the easiest to install, so click it, then click the grey ‘Download through your browser’ button to download it as a portable file. Go to your Downloads folder, then run the program’s setup file (some antivirus programs detect it as a false positive but it’s safe). The program opens in a small window with three notes. The first 1 explains the program’s features. Click New to starting creating a new note.

Name your note (we called ours ‘Bank details’ ), then type your details. Highlight your text and use the six icons  to change its font, text colour and text size. To password-protect your note, click ‘Secure note’ , tick ‘Secure this note with a password’, enter your chosen password  ,then click Add  . Repeat this Step to add other notes that can be protected with their own password.

To add an extra layer of security to your account, click More at the top right of the program’s main window, then click Security Centre. Here, tick ‘Enhanced security protection’  , type a Master Password, then type a ‘Recovery email’ address (which can be used should you forget your master password). At the bottom, you can set a maximum number of failed password attempts (from Never to ‘5 times’) before you receive an email alerting you to the fact that someone is trying to access your account  . Finally, click Set  , then click OK to confirm these settings.
