How to add browser like tabs to software

If you like to multi-task, it can be a real hassle constantly having to switch between the various programs and folders that you're working with. TidYTabs is a new free program that lets you add browser-like tabs to any open program or for any location on your PC. You can group together up to three programs and/or locations, then switch between them with a single click. Here's how you can do it.

To install the program, go to this link, click the Download button under the Personal (Freeway) version on the left, then run the setup file to install it. If you see an option to buy the product during installation, ignore it and choose to continue with the free version. Once installed, the program's icon sits in your taskbar's notification area. Now, whenever you move your cursor to the top of a program window (full-screen) or top-left (non-full-screen), you'll see a small tab.

You can group up to three program/PC location tabs, so you can easily switch between them. First make your program windows smaller, then click the tab at the top left of the first program and drag and drop it on to the tab of the second program. Repeat this to add a third program tab. Three tabs is the maximum in the free version, but you can create multiple groups with three tabs in each. You can now switch between these grouped programs with one click. Right-click any of the tabs to see options to close the programs. Click and drag any tab to ungroup it from the others.

To change the tabs' appearance, click the TidyTabs icon in your notification area. The General section has options to start the program with Windows, check for system updates and restore the program to its default settings. In the Appearance section, you'll see sliders to change your tabs' transparency levels. You can also change the tab's transparency and size while dragging and dropping. The Exclusions section lets you select programs you don't want to use tabs for. Click Apply, then OK to confirm your changes.
