Stop Windows 10 from spying on you with these Security Settings
Microsoft says that Windows 10 collects your data so it can "operate effectively and provide you with the best experiences". But it also admits that this data can be used to send you "promotional communications" and "display advertising". So, Here are the three most crucial privacy settings to tweak in Windows 10.
Disable targeted advertising
Click Start, Settings, then Privacy. Click General on the left, then switch off 'Let apps use my advertising ID for experiences across apps'. Also switch off 'Let websites provide locally relevant content by accessing my language list.
Next, click 'Manage my Microsoft advertising and other personalisation info, sign in with your Microsoft account, then switch the 'Personalised ads' sliders to off.
Block location tracking
Click Start, Settings, Privacy, Location. Next, click Change, then turn off the location tracking. To erase location data, click Clear under 'Clear history on this device'.
Stop apps watching and listening
Click Start, Settings, Privacy, then Camera or Microphone. Turn off individual apps listed under 'Choose apps that can use your camera/microphone'.
